Kanata Fuyuno (冬野かなた Fuyuno Kanata?) is a reoccurring character in Deception IV: The Nightmare Princess, who is seen in Velguirie's dreams.

Kanata is the true identity of Velguirie and inspired the creation of Dark Side Heaven.

Story[]

She was constantly tormented at school by a gang led by Layla, culminating in an attack in the park in which her legs were broken by Nirvana Takeshi. She was sent to hospital, but Layla further asked a gang member, Karouko, whose father works at the hospital to arrange for him to be blackmailed into ensuring Kanata never woke up. While lying unconscious in the hospital, Kanata thought up Velguirie as a vehicle for her vengeance.

Ephemera created Dark Side Heaven using a Core Stone and brought Kanata into it as Velguirie, in order to have her work to summon the Devil. Depending on the final mission you play, she may either destroy her original soul and become the real Velguirie, then be among the Princesses sacrificed to summon the Devil; or return to the ordinary world, derailing Ephemera's plan.

In Q96: Eternal Slumber, she is tracked down and killed by Velguirie, destroying Kanata from her own soul.

In another timeline, in Q100: Beyond the Nightmare, she is able to face off against Velguirie. After she defeats her, she is able to leave Dark Side Heaven, and back to her world.

Also in another timeline, in Q98: Unending Dream, she is shown using traps to kill the people who tormented her whole life. After her hunt, she questions why Ephemera brought her into Dark Side Heaven. Ephemera obliges, stating that Kanata was suffering. She also reveals that Kanata created Velguirie out of the revenge and hatred in her heart. Ephemera also created Dark Side Heaven, primarily for Kanata. After their interaction, Kanata questions what she should do now in this reality.
